Ronald's Obituary

Ronald John Koss, 83, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. Ron was born December 12, 1942, to father John Koss Jr. and mother Mary Juvan Koss. Married Renee Hallett on September 6, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ron graduated from the Utah School of the Deaf and the Blind in Ogden, Utah, in May 1964. He trained in the barber vocational course and attended Utah Technical College training in layout for fabricators, as well as the Technical Engineering Institute in the School of Drafting and Design, where he received a certificate in Specialized drafting.

Ron retired from St. George Steel Fabrication, Inc. in November 2011 after spending his career in welding and fabrication, and continued his love of welding, helping friends and family with their projects.

Outside of welding, Ron spent many years in multiple deaf bowling leagues, sharing his love of bowling with friends and family. He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially outdoors, with activities such as gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, and helping on the family farm.

Sincere gratitude to the Young’s, Mellor’s, and Peacock’s for graciously welcoming the Koss’ and embracing them as one unified family at all gatherings.

Survived by his loving wife Renee Hallett Koss, two children, Kim Koss and Kevin (Shauna) Koss, and sister Judy (Rudy) Metelko. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Brittany (Jonathan), Nichelle (Paul), Brielle (Nathan), and Breanna (Johnathon); great-granddaughter Abigail; nieces and nephews, Rudy Metelko, Janice (Mike) Chandler, Paul (Lindsey) Metelko; eight great-nieces and nephews; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Koss; his sister, Juanita; brother-in-law, Blair Blaser; brother Roger; and sister-in-law JoAnn.

A viewing will be held February 1st, 2026, 11:00 - 11:45 AM at Broomhead Funeral Home. 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, Utah. Services will begin after the viewing.
