Dear Rootsman Bird,
I used to listen to your show on WLAN in the mid 80's and it was fantastic. I would tape your weekly show using cassette tapes, and I listened to those recorded shows for years. You were a phenomenal DJ, and I am someone that never paid attention to radio DJ's.
Thank you for turning me on to reggea, and playing the best reggae mixes I ever heard. RIP brother, see you on the other side.

"Bird" became a part of our family after I met him as a member of the Lansing Topspins tennis team. He was my doubles partner and on many occasions I could count on him as my dance partner. We had many years of good times in Lansing and Jackson. He holds a special place in the hearts of the Charles & Lillian White family. We will miss him dearly. We will never forget him for being a GREAT person and all that he shared. Family and friends you are in my prayers. Be strong!

Much respect to the man called Rootsmon Bird. I first met you at the reggae bands at Rick's. It's been a very long time that I've known you and you've been a very generous local reggae legend, with your Rootsmon Bird Connections and all of your various efforts on our local community's behalf. Will miss seeing your face in the place when I'm at a reggae event. You've changed my life, and I am so thankful to Jah that I was able to tell you that before you passed. And since you were more than...

Rootsmon Bird will most assuredly be missed. I grew up around the corner from him in Grand Rapids and always remember Bird as the "party man". Music was his sanctuary. My big sister Robin (RIP) was one of his best friends and they can see each other again. To the family and friends, I offer my condolences.
