Ronald "Ron" Sidles, age 83 of Emmetsburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the Emmetsburg Care Center. Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM on Monday, January 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.
Ronald George Sidles, the son of Earl and Ethel (Beilhorz), was born on March 22, 1942 in Estherville, Iowa. He graduated from Terril High School in 1960 and then attended Trade School. Following school, Ron became an auto mechanic and worked in Sonora, California and later as a security guard. He then painted for Earl Robb and eventually became a partner with him. In 1980, he moved to Graettinger and farmed with Duane Sidles and was a truck driver for Kerber’s Milling Company. He then farmed with Dale Opheim.
On March 20, 1965, Ron married Diane Funderburg in Carson City, Nevada. Together they had four children. After Diane’s passing in 2011, Ron remarried to Carol Ehmen on December 20, 2012 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Ron loved traveling, riding and tinkering with his motorcycle, and taking care of his garden, especially his tomatoes.
Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife, Carol, of Emmetsburg; children, Deb Lee of Whittemore, Amy Gilderhus of Spencer, and Casey (Erika) Sidles of Arvada, CO; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel; first wife, Diane; son, Daniel Sidles; son-in-law, Dana Lee; and siblings, Delores Johnson and Don Sidles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ron's name to the American Heart Association.
