Ronald's Obituary

WESTFIELD- Ronald H. Trippy Sr., 82, of Westfield, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. He was born March 18, 1944, in Westfield, NY, the son of the late C. Herbert and Grace M. Calarco Trippy.

     Ron had worked for Weber-Knapp for 18 years in Jamestown, NY, sold Fire Equipment for Nuttal Fire Equipment Service and Sales for 10 years and worked in the family restaurant business for 25 years, Grace’s Family Restaurant in Mayville, NY. 

     He was a Life Member and past Chief of the Westfield Fire Department, where he served for 24 years. He was also a Life Member of the Mayville Fire Department and past Chief after serving for 17 years. Ron was also a member and previous President of the Chautauqua County Fire Chiefs Association, a member and previous Chairman of the Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board, member of the NYS Fire Chiefs Association, Life member of the Southwestern Fireman’s Association, member of Chautauqua County Traffic Safety Board, member of Chautauqua County DWI Board and a member of the Moose Lodge 118 of Westfield.

    Ron enjoyed the fire service, cooking and most of all, time with his family. He was a father and mentor to many and provided a safe and fun environment for his children’s friends, and loved them all like his own. 

    He is survived by his loving wife and love of his life, Janice Nutt Trippy, whom he married June 13, 1992, five children, Ronald (Kathleen) Trippy jr., Renee (Mark) Kawski, Rochelle (Jamie) Mekus, Cindy (Tommy) Grimland, and Donna (Frank) Darter, nine grandchildren, Dillon (Ashley) Kawski, Lucas (Luisa) Kawski, Alexandra (Sarah) Trippy, Amelia Trippy, Avery Mekus, Aubrey Mekus, Dylan (Kathleen) Foley, Josh (Jennifer) Grimland, and Eli (Erin) Grimland, seven great grandchildren, Harper Grace Kawski, Mia Foley, Luke Foley, Kalie (Robin) Smith, Hannah (Grant) Lemmond, Madison Grimland, and Mason Grimland, two great great-grandchildren, Ellie Smith and Noah Lemmond, and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Raymond (Irene) Nutt, and a stepson, Steven Rothwell. 

     The funeral, with Firemen’s Services, will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service (1-3 PM) also at the Funeral Home.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to any Volunteer Fire Department.
