Ronney's Obituary

Ronney M. Robbins, age 79, of Florala, Alabama, passed away suddenly on October 26, 2025.

A native of Florala, Ronney made his home and raised his family in Montevallo, Alabama, where he built a life centered on his wife and girls. He enjoyed a stellar 33-year career with Norfolk Southern Railway, serving as a Conductor, and earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues through his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

After retirement, Ronney and his wife Gayle returned to Florala, where they built a home on the very site of his childhood home, a place filled with memories and deep family roots. Upon returning to Florala, Ronney contributed to his hometown by serving on the Airport Authority Board and as Chairman of the Utility Board.

Ronney’s focus throughout his life was his wife and daughters, who were his greatest source of pride. The arrival of his grandsons, and later a baby girl, brought a renewed sense of joy and purpose, filling holidays and summers with lots of fun and laughter. His retirement years in Florala were especially meaningful, spent enjoying the company of his nephews and many special friends who enriched his life with fellowship and shared memories.

Known for his easygoing spirit, Ronney loved a good time and cherished the simple pleasures of life. He was also a quietly generous benefactor, always eager to help others without seeking recognition or praise. His kindness, humility, and good humor touched the lives of many and left an enduring mark on everyone who knew him.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Gayle (Cooper) Robbins of Coffee County, AL (Ino Community), and together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Ronney was a loving father to Cindy Robbins of Round Rock, Texas, and Ginger Robbins McDougald and her husband, Matthew, of Auburn, Alabama. He was also the proud grandfather of Chapman and Sullivan Burkhart of Round Rock, Texas, and Pierce and Anna McDougald of Auburn, Alabama. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Ronney was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ethel Robbins, and his siblings Mildred Robbins Seay, Winston Robbins, and Vernon Robbins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Florala, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in a private family gathering.
