Rosalina's Obituary

Rosalina "Mama Chalia" Guitron, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully in her home, on October 27, 2025, in Santa Rosa, California, at the remarkable age of 100.

Born on January 17, 1925, in Cuautla, Jalisco, Mexico, Rosalina lived a century marked by deep faith, enduring love for her family, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew her. Her life was rooted in devotion—both spiritual and familial—and she carried these values with grace throughout her years.

A woman of profound religious conviction, Rosalina found great comfort and strength in her faith. She was known for reading the Bible daily and praying the rosary with unwavering dedication. Attending church with Father Manuel Chavez was an important part of her spiritual life and brought her immense peace. Her faith was not only a personal compass but also a source of inspiration to those around her.

Rosalina had a special gift for nurturing—whether it was tending to plants in her garden or offering warmth and wisdom to those who sought her counsel. She found joy in planting and watching things grow, much like the love she cultivated within her family.

Mamá Chalia, also loved music and enjoyed singing church songs at family gatherings, many times accompanied by her niece Betty Guitron and her guitar, whom many times prior to her departure sang with her at her bedside, with deepest love.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Saúl, Rosalina, and BlancaHer legacy continues through the many grandchildren who adored their Mamá Chalia and through the nieces and nephews who held her close to their hearts. Her home was always open—a place where laughter echoed and stories were shared across generations.

Rosalina now joins in eternal rest with her parents Rosalio Guitron and Julita Peña, sisters, Ampelia, Francisca, Adelina, Cuca, and Victoria; her brother Filemon, son Ruben and granddaughter Bianca. Though they are gone from this world, their memories live on in the hearts of those who remain.

Her sense of humor brightened every room she entered. Even as time passed and years added up, Rosalina’s wit remained sharp and endearing. She brought lightness to serious moments and joy to ordinary days.

May the memory of Rosalina "Mamá Chalia" Guitron bring comfort to all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in every prayer whispered over rosary beads and every seed planted with care.

A Memorial Mass And funeral service celebrating Rosalina's life will be held on November 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM at Saint Helena Church, 1340 Tainter
