DEYAB, Rose M. (Guarino) – Of Andover formerly of Arlington who passed on May 11, 2024 just 11 days shy of her 95th birthday.
Loving mother of Donna of Andover, Paul of Burlington, Mark and his wife Vanessa of Dracut, doting grandmother or “grammie” of 4 y.o. Mathias.
Beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and Louise Guarino and beloved sister of the late Gerald Guarino.
Rose was Born May 22, 1929, or 5 months before the start of the Great Depression. Despite the country being rocked, her foundation was cemented by a Great God, a Catholic faith and Italian immigrant parents who role modeled grit and determination. Rose worked in the familypoultry business as a teen and graduated from Brighton High School. She developed many of the attributes of the Greatest Generation: a strong work ethic, modesty, resilience, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
When Rose lost her 44 y.o. husband, Albert, in 1966 after just 5 years of marriage, she was left with the awesome responsibility of raising her 3 children who at the time were 6 months old, 2 years old and 4 years old.
Rose had many interests including ballroom dancing, bowling, the Boston sports scene and Bingo. She also worked as a clerk in the accounts payable department at GE for 20 years. Always the tactician, she was happy that she was able to patch together her time before and after motherhood to collect a pension before she retired. Post retirement, she devoted her time to creating prayer shawls for St. Eulalia’s Parish congregants, family and friends.
Calling hours Thursday May 16th, at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, 4:00 - 7:00pm.
