Not sure what to say?

Back in the 60’s I was a babysitter for Bob and Rosemary's kids. Over the Monterey Park years my mom and Rosemary were great friends and neighbors. Bob would come over to pitch in when my dad was building our addition and needed to raise a stud wall or ask advice. I think most of my brothers worked for Bob for a year or more. I’m happy to know Rosemary lived a long and fulfilling life with all her family close by. My condolences to her family.

I am so thankful to have known Rose Marie through the women's Bible study. I will never forget how she supported me with such kindness and prayer. I am grateful to have known her as a faithful woman who loved the Lord and wanted to put her faith first. She will always be someone I admire. I will never forget how she told me "The first two letters of God are GO! GO with God- that is always the right direction!" And she is so right! Thank you Rose Marie for your faithfulness and love of...

Now you can can paddle of into that great "convertible in the sky"

Rose Marie was very special to me - and to so many others. She will be greatly missed in our Bible Study, at mass, and in the many ways she touched lives.

My condolences.

Rose Marie's Obituary

Rose Marie Helling, born Rose Marie Scelso on September 2, 1936, in Laurel Springs, New Jersey, to Joseph and Carolina Scelso, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Palomar Hospital. Her final day was spent surrounded by many loving family members.

Rose Marie was the oldest of two children. She is survived by her brother, Joe Scelso of Arizona. At the age of nine, she moved with her family to California, settling in Lincoln Heights. When she was eighteen years old, she met Bob, a friend of her neighbor. She often joked that when they were introduced, all she noticed was his beautiful convertible—and she fell in love instantly.

Bob and Rose Marie were married on June 25, 1955. They purchased a home in Monterey Park, where they began raising their family. Both were deeply involved in their church community. Bob worked as a general contractor, while Rose Marie was a stay-at-home mother. Her home was always open, and many people came and went, often seeking her wisdom, comfort, and counsel.

In 1988, Rose Marie and Bob moved to Fallbrook, where they purchased several acres atop a hill affectionately known by friends and family as “The Hill.” After moving there, they quickly became active in their church, attending nearly every function. Rose Marie had a great love for the arts and enjoyed attending plays and concerts, often holding season tickets at various venues. She also enjoyed Zumba, going to the gym, and staying active. She was constantly on the go and embraced life with energy and enthusiasm.

Rose Marie is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Valerie (Bob), Rob (Linda), Chris (Della), Julie (Al), Regina (Pete), Naomi (John), and Damian (Natalie). She was also blessed with thirty-one grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, located at 450 S. Stagecoach Lane, Fallbrook, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
