Rose will be missed , to know Rose was to love her, I loved how she never abbreviated your name, nor would she nickname you she would call you by your name, beautiful smile kind heart, always prim and proper, her Mom and my Dad were sister and brother, we basically grew up across the yard . Get your rest my dear sweet cousin, and as you would say “ Thanks Love”

On Monday, March 17, 2025, God in His infinite mercy, called our beloved, Rose Elizabeth Mason-Holland to her eternal rest. Rose was born March 13, 1949, to the late Lee Charles Mason and Matilda Ercelle Vaughan. Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Mason Eldridge; aunts, Alma Mason Parson, Augusta Mason Branch, Rosa Lee Surley, Doris Vaughan Wallace, and Madeline Gill Jones; and her uncles, Lawerence Mason, Jr. and James Vaughan, Jr.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rose later resided in Chesterfield County for the majority of her life, where she attended Union Branch, Union Grove Elementary Schools, and Carver High School. She graduated from Matoaca High School, Class of 1967 and pursued further studies at Virginia State College (now Virginia State University). Rose was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.
Rose was baptized at an early age at Union Branch Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and devoted member. At Union Branch, she served diligently in various ministries including: Chair of the Missionary Ministry, former Assistant Church Clerk, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Outreach Ministry, Pastoral Support Ministry, Usher Board, Wedding Ministry, Choir, Triumphant Prayer and Saturday Morning Intercessory Prayer Line. She also loved to attend Sunday School and Bible Study.
Rose worked at Petersburg General Hospital (now known as Bon Secours Southside Medical Center). She also dedicated many years of loyal service to the Department of Corrections, where she worked until her retirement.
Rose had a flair for style and loved wearing high heels. She flawlessly coordinated every outfit with matching accessories. Rose was a member of Beaux-Twenty Debutante Alumnae Association in which she participated in the Annual Debutante Cotillions.
Rose was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her son, Junius Holland III "Trae" (Kristin) and her beloved grandsons, Quintin and Kamerin. Her memory will be treasured by her loving brothers, Charles Lee Mason, Sr. (Theresa) and James Allen Mason, Sr. (Margaret); devoted aunts, Shirley Mason Cox, Sheilia V. Harris, Shirley V. Barksdale and Josephine V. Vaughan; uncles, Bernard Ellis and Claude Ellis; godchildren, Dawn Brown, Corey Barksdale, Ebony Harris, Reverend Keith Granderson and Xavier Edwards; and god-sister, Demetria Coleman Dugger.

Miss me but let me go, hold onto the love we shared, and find peace in knowing that I’m now at rest.
Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Union Branch Baptist Church, 11519 River Road, Chesterfield, VA, the Rev. Dr. Gregory M. Howard, Pastor.
