Rosemary E. Thyen

1930 - 2024

ROSEMARY E. THYEN, age 94, of Hobart, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024. She was born on July 26, 1930, in Winchester, Indiana. She was a longtime Hobart resident and member of Evergreen Baptist Church. She was married to Robert Thyen, who preceded her in death in 1997. Rose worked as a CNA in the nursery holding and rocking the babies. She had also volunteered at St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary. Rose cherished the time she spent with her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Mary (Russ) Fidler of Portage and Carol (the late Joe) Perez of Valparaiso;  grandchildren, Tina Babb, Tim (Kelly) Fidler, Kris (Doug) Gourley, Brian (Dawn) Fidler, William Jones (Todd Christianson), Carey Perez, Ed (Amy) Fidler, Shawn (Kelly) Fidler; great grandchildren, Nikki (Ronnie) Charlson, Zachary Fidler, Dusty Gourley, Tyler Gourley, Dougie (Skyler) Gourley, Jordan Gourley, Sarah Rose Fidler, Matthew Fidler, Jacob Fidler, Carey Perez, Jr., Taylor Fidler, Emily Fidler; great-great grandchildren,   Evangeline, Parker, Savannah, Emmett, Charlotte, Veronica;  sister, Janet Rogers of Georgia.

She was also preceded in death by parents, Ellen (Gene) Hillman and Ronald O. Fraze;  her daughter, Sheila Pranger; grandson, Joey Perez; sister, Catherine Flynn; brothers, Orville and Elvin Fraze.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dunes Hospice.

Funeral services for Rose will be Wednesday, December 4, 2024 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 Noon at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with Rev G.C. Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
