Rowena's Obituary

Rowena S. Gabsewics passed away peacefully on March 3, 2012. She is survived by her husband Fred, daughters Beth and Mary Ann Coates, son-in-law Earl Coates, Sr., two granddaughters, Stephanie and Bethany, brothers Lee and Roland Seward and sister-in-law Doris of Berwick, PA. Ro battled cancer several years a courageous effort, but ended in defeat. Loving life to the fullest she was an avid reader, traveler and golfer. Everywhere she resided she had a library card. She traveled to Europe, the Caribbean and the United States extensively. She golfed as a member in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Grand Lake, Colorado. Her home course was Sussex Pines, Georgetown, Delaware. Ro loved to play cards, she played 18,000 hands of gin on the computer. She belonged to a ladies bridge group, playing for the championship to host the annual luncheon; she never won but enjoyed meeting all the beautiful people along the way. Ro is a member of the Indian River Yacht Club Auxiliary and American Legion Post #28. She will be missed by all who have known her, especially her husband who lost his best friend, Rowena. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Indian River Yacht Club located on River Road in Millsboro, Delaware.
