Funeral services for Roy Lee Denney, 79, will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Tolbert officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
The son of the late Vernon H. Denney and Martha Lee Dodson Denham, Roy was born May 26, 1946, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma and left this life for life eternal on October 4, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Lone Grove and Ardmore, Roy graduated from Lone Grove High School and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 when he was honorably discharged. He received the Good Conduct Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Expert Badge with Rifle and Missile Bars.
He and the former Betty Ruth Hale were married March 1996 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Roy was a truck driver and worked for Oakley Trucking. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling and being outdoors, hunting, target practice and especially riding his motorcycle.
Roy is survived by his wife Betty; sons Jimmy Denney and wife Kim; Duane Denney; daughters, Sherry Gray and Julie Hunnicutt and husband Ryan; brothers, Charles Denney and wife Joanie; James Denney and wife Jane; Randy Denham and wife Lawania; and Wendell Denham; his sister Kathy Covert; grandchildren, Mickey, Mary and Emily Hunnicutt; Lauren White and husband Willie; Kimberly Baker and husband Jake; Dustin Denney; Destiny Dixon and husband Steven; Tyler Gray and wife Jacie and Caitlyn Gray and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Linda Ellis and Debbie King and a brother Jerry Denham.
