So sorry to hear this. My moma talked often of you from your school days and i remember you were always helping people. Rest in peace , sir.

Condolences to the family of Roy. He was a great brother-in-law. He took good care of my sister while she was alive. He will be missed.

ROY's Obituary

Roy Burl Gilmore Sr., 92, of Blue, Texas was called Home on Saturday, September 24th, 2022. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother.

Roy was born October 13th, 1929 in Palestine, Texas to Tom Craig Gilmore and Thoradell Pierce.

Roy grew up in Slocum, Texas and graduated from Slocum High School in 1947. He entered the Marine Corps in 1953 and served until 1957. He moved to Houston, Texas where he worked a short time for Nabisco. He then became a truck driver with Dickson Weatherproof Nail Company where he retired after 30 years of service. After retirement from Dickson, he moved back to his hometown of Slocum, Texas and worked for Slocum ISD for 8 years as a bus driver and maintenance worker.

Roy was a member of Days Chapel Church until he moved to Blue, Texas to be with his son and family. He attended Ridgeway Baptist Church until his death.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Tom C. and Thoradell Gilmore, wife Vicky Gilmore, son Roy B. Gilmore Jr., granddaughter Michelle Clark, sister Jane Phoenix, sister Peggy Adams, and brother Troy Gilmore.

Roy is survived by his son Floyd and his wife Carol Gilmore of Blue, Texas, daughter Charlotte White of Baytown, Texas, granddaughter and her husband Ramona and Michael Castillo of Lexington, Texas, grandson and his wife Jack and Susan Gilmore of Blue, Texas, grandson Randy White of Baytown, Texas, grandson and his wife Pete and Cathy White of Onalaska, Texas, his sister Cynthia Gorski of Spring, Texas, his brother-in-law Kenneth Phoenix of Slocum, Texas, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine with Jack Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Memorial Park.  A visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
