Roy's Obituary

Roy Curtis Mullins, Jr., 93, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away on July 22, 2025.

Curt was born on September 20, 1931 in Childress, Texas to Roy Curtis Mullins, Sr. and Vera Cooper Mullins. Along with his parents and younger brother, Doug, his family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas during World War ll.

Curt attended Zundelowitz Junior High, where he took woodworking, which led to be a lifetime hobby. He graduated from Wichita Falls High in 1949 where he pitched on the baseball team. Curt was baptized into Christ at 15 years old. He was a lifelong, faithful member of the church of Christ. He served as a deacon, an elder, and a Bible teacher for many years.

Curt attended Midwestern State University and it was there at the library where he met the love of his life, Christine Ligon. Later, he received a scholarship to George Williams College in Chicago, Illinois. They corresponded by letters until he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Group Work Education. Curt and Chris were married on August 16, 1953 for 68 years until her death. He was drafted in the US Army, and they lived in Pirmasens, Germany for two years. He served as a sergeant plotting trajectories for the nuclear cannons. They returned to Chicago for Curt to finish his Masters in Group Administration. He started his career as a General Manager of the YMCA and lived in San Angelo, Corsicana, and Big Spring, Texas with their children Curtis, Ron and Cindy. In 1976, he shifted his career to banking and acquired another Master’s Degree. Curt served as President of Wells Fargo Bank in Big Spring and retired in 2003 and moved back to Wichita Falls.

He is survived by his son, Curtis and wife, Karen, of Norman, OK; son, Ron and wife, Marianne, of Stephenville, TX; daughter, Cindy Long of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren, Matt and Allison Mullins, Melissa and Brandon Hubbard, Lauren and Tyson Garfield, Courtney and Bob Whitehead, Meagan and Scott Young, and Emily and Pete Siggerud; fourteen great-grandchildren, Hudson, Harper, Holton and Hayes Mullins, Greyson, Sawyer and Easton Hubbard, Sadie and Max Whitehead, Atleigh, Lawson and Foster Young, Knox Ullrich and Brooks Siggerud.

A Celebration of Curt’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Faith Village Church of Christ in Wichita Falls with Mr. Matt Mullins, officiating.  Curt was interred at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
