ROYCE L. “SONNIE” PAINTER, JR. 

WAYNESBORO, VA… 

Royce Leo “Sonnie” Painter, Jr., 67, of 13 April Drive, Waynesboro, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

He was born April 28, 1950 in New Market, a son of the late Royce Leo, Sr., and Betty (Lloyd) Painter. 

Prior to retirement, he was employed by the City of Staunton.

Royce was an avid hunter and a member of Silver Leaf Hunting Club.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Tracy Lynn and Stephanie Painter of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Matt Thompson of Elkton; five grandchildren, Brianna Painter, Jerry Painter, and Tyler Thompson, Austin Thompson, and Cheyenne Thompson; and his beloved cat, Boo.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at his residence.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA  22215.
