The Life and Legacy of “Lil. Boy”

Ruben Day was born on October 12, 1937 in Marvell, Arkansas to the late Shufford and James Anna Day.

Ruben started working on his family’s farm at an early age alongside his twin brother. Once learning the value of hard work, he began working for Cedar Chemical Corporation for 15 years and later began doing public service jobs around Marvell, Arkansas before his health failed.

 Ruben enjoyed fishing farming, listening to the blues, dancing and traveling from Marvell, Arkansas to Little Rock, Arkansas.

Ruben was united in matrimony to Martha Mayham and from this union, one son was born. Ruben later united in matrimony to Pearlie Banks and from this union and from this union, six children were born.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Shufford, Boweaver, Ashbury, and Addison Day; his sisters, Edna and Magnolia Day, Alma Valley, Julia Watson, Mary Jane Hull, Mandy Piggee and Selina Carter; sister-in-law, Ora Jean Day, and grandsons, Ruben Sergio Tramier Day and Elijah Speaks.

Ruben departed this life on February 2, 2023.

Ruben leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Ruben (Renita) Day, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas, Martha (Roosevelt) Holding of Marvell, Arkansas, Mary (Jessie) Powell or Marvell, Arkansas, Selina (Dale) Speaks of Dallas, Texas, Jack (Gwanna) Day of Little Rock, Arkansas, Linda (Timothy) Gage of Marvell, Arkansas, and Teresa Day of Little Rock, Arkansas; 3 siblings, Frank Day of Albury, Arkansas, his twin, Rube Day of Conway, Arkansas, and Mamie White of Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law, Lorice Day, Catherine Day; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
