My favorite memory of Mrs. Cravens was the first time I met her. She was standing in her kitchen. She introduced herself and then she offered me a drink. She said " Take this Dr. Pepper, it's the best drink ever made! " Then she sat down and cracked one open for herself.
She was dearly loved by everyone that knew her. My deepest sympathy to the Cravens family.

It’s hard to believe we will no longer be able to see Ruby’s smiling face except in the wonderful memories we have of such a wonderful lady. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her such an incredible caretaker of all of those little ones for so many years. Rest in Peace dear Ruby!! Chatham…….Ruby Osborne Cravens, age 79 of Chatham passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Born December 18, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Will Osborne and Irene Towler Osborne. She was predeceased by one grandson, Michael Cravens, Jr.; five brothers, Carl Osborne, Burton Osborne, William Osborne, Lindsey Osborne and Onyx Osborne; and three sisters, Evelyne Perry, Dorothy Moore and Relda Shelton. Mrs. Cravens was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church and a daycare provider for 35 years. She loved taking care of children, family get togethers and flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles “Andy” Anderson Cravens, Jr of the residence; two sons, Michael Cravens and wife, Tina of Hammonton, NJ and Mark Cravens and wife, Anne of Apex, NC; two brothers, Roger Osborne and wife, Martha Sue of Chatham and Emory Osborne and wife, Sandra of Hurt; three sisters, Annie Donley of Myrtle Beach, Brenda Brooks of Chatham and Gladys Osborne of Chatham; five grandchildren, Jack, Brad, Nate, Luke and Rory; and four step-grandchildren, Ashley, Alicia, Amber and Brandon.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2025 at Oak Grove Christian Church by Pastor Mike Waters.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2025 at Oak Grove Christian Church and other times will be at the residence.
