Aunt Ruby was one of the kindest persons I have ever known. I didn't get to see her often but loved her from the first time I met her. Love you Uncle Truitt.

Ruby's Obituaries

Ruby Lee Longing, also known as Roo Roo and Me Me, age 88 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. She was born on March 15, 1925 in El Dorado to the late Early Marion Hardin and Genie Lillian (Bishop) Hardin. Ruby attended Myrtle Grove School all through elementary and high school where she was an all state basketball star. She received her nursing certification from The Warner Brown School of Nursing and later was a certified nursing instructor. Ruby was always was a good student and made straight A?s throughout all her education. She worked for many years at Ashley Memorial Hospital in Crossett where she helped Setup the Coronary Care Unit before her retirement. She formerly attended Temple Baptist Church in Crossett, where she taught Sunday school. After retirement, she and Truett moved home to El Dorado where they attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. She also taught Sunday school at Ebenezer and served in many other capacities until she was unable to do so. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daughter, Deborah Lynn Longing and by numerous other brothers and sisters in law. Those left to cherish her memory include; her husband of 66 years, Truett J. ?Hootie? Longing of El Dorado; two daughters, Julie Marblestone and husband Don of Longwood, FL, Jeanne Bussey and husband Herb of El Dorado; three grandchildren, Michael Jeffery and wife Chelle of Greensboro, NC, Kelly Bussey of El Dorado and Matt Bussey of El Dorado; two great grandchildren, Tucker Jeffery of Greensboro, NC and Madison DeFee of El Dorado; one brother, Bill Hardin of El Dorado also, numerous other special friends. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Bailey Funeral Home.Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Bro Steve Pelz and Bro. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Burns-Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado. The Family wishes to say a special thanks to Everyone at Life Touch Hospice who helped take care of Mrs. Longing. Memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice or to The JOY Club of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be members of The Senior Men?s Sunday school class.
