RUDOLPH's Obituary

RUDOLPH JOSEPH "RUDY" CHAVEZ, SR. passed away on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025.  He was born on October 6, 1944, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. In 1954, Rudy moved to Lorain, Ohio, along with his parents and 4 siblings. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1962.

He is survived by his children, Rudolph Jr (Karen), Jacqueline Anderson (David), Grandchildren Carina Lambert (Cody) and Ramon “Ramira” Chavez.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Alice (Michael) Holland, George (Diana) Chavez, Myrna (Dennis) Tomazic, Edward (Deborah) Chavez, Sr., Randolph (Linda) Chavez, and many nieces and nephews. Former husband to Helen (Truskolaski), Bonnie (Chavez), and Charlene (Chavez).  

He was preceded in death by his son Richard Chavez, parents, Ignacio (Sr) and Antonia Chavez; his brothers, Ignacio Chavez (Jr), Richard Chavez, and sisters, Margaret Chavez and Leticia Fischer.

Mr. Chavez worked for the Ford Motor Company for nearly 30 years. He was an avid golfer and skier, and he enjoyed traveling throughout Mexico, the United States, and Europe. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his enthusiastic personality resonated with everyone he met.

Mr. Chavez was a 4th-degree Knight assembly #811 and 3rd-degree Knight at St. Clarence Church in North Olmsted, Council #4731. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Augustine Manor and was actively involved in several Alcoholics Anonymous groups. One of his greatest accomplishments was achieving 47 years of sobriety.

Funeral Mass Tuesday, October 14, Church of St. Clarence (30106 Lorain Rd.) at 11:00 AM. where friends may call from 10:00 AM. until time of Mass. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
