Russell Lee Wade Jr., more affectionately known as “Bubba”, was born February 8, 1956 to the late Russell Wade Sr., and Mildred Adell Wade. He entered into eternal rest Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home in Halifax, NC.
Bubba attended Smith Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Scotland Neck High School and furthered his studies at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.
Bubba enjoyed fishing, hunting, sitting under shade trees, and just being outdoors in general. When he wasn't engaged in outdoor activities and nature, he enjoyed conversing with family and closest friends. He would often talk about his time in college and living in Durham. He enjoyed reminiscing on the days of meeting his future wife, Reta, pledging Kappa Alpha Psi, and rides in his convertible car known as the Batmobile.
Bubba was born into a farming family, and later on married Reta and created his own family on the same farm. He always had a major interest in agriculture. He would express this interest in the form of farming row crops, as well as raising Perdue chickens. During the course of his life, he held down a very diverse career of jobs ranging from truck driving, banking, building diesel engines, to real estate.
In addition to his parents, Bubba was preceded in death by his only brother, his ‘Road Dog’, Norman. They are both missed by many.
Bubba leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Carmar ‘Reta’; two children, Russell III (Sharita), and Adell (James); five grandchildren, Malachi, Traci, Micah, Russell, IV, and Milani; four loving sisters: Margie, Judy, Vera, and Gwen; a niece, Monica; a nephew, Steve (Carlicia); a great-nephew, Justin; and a great-niece, Kayla. He also leaves fond memories to a host of cousins, other relatives, supportive friends, and a long time friend, Lee Mitchell.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Smith Chapel Baptist Church, 15831 US Highway 301, Enfield, North Carolina. Burial followed in the Smith Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. A Public Viewing was held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina. Arrangements were handled by Lea and Pope Funeral Home, Enfield, North Carolina. Send condolences to www.leapopefuneralhome.com.
