Ruth Ann Vagts

Vassar, MI

Ruth Ann Vagts (Wescoat), loving mother, grandma, and aunt passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022, with family by her side at the age of 82. Ruth Ann was born May 4, 1939, in Tuscola, Michigan to the late William and Grace Wescoat. She was married 38 wonderful years to the late Richard Vagts.

Ruth Ann was employed at Super Foods/Nash Finch. She was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s in Tuscola. She was also a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. 

Surviving are her 2 daughters: Lori (Haubenstricker) Lewis of Tuscola and Kari (Brian) Jobson of Vassar. Ruth Ann was loved and blessed by all 7 of her grandchildren and all 7 of her great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews that held a very special place in her heart. Her stepchildren and step grandchildren were very special as well.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her siblings Wilma Kandler, Donald Wescoat, Francis Wescoat, Phyllis Baldwin, Maurice Wescoat, and Allen Wescoat. She was also preceded in death by son-in-law Timothy Lewis and by her first husband David Haubenstricker.

The family would like to send special thanks to daughter Kari and granddaughter Jamie for the extra love and care during the past few months.

Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Ruth Ann’s granddaughter Jamie Specht will officiate with burial to follow at the Tuscola Township Cemetery. Ruth Ann’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Ruth Ann’s family will also hold a Celebration of Life this summer. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Covenant VNA or St. Lorenz Girls of Grace Ministry.
