Ruth Lubbers Fligge, 79, of Sioux Falls, and formerly of Canistota, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Ruth was born October 20, 1936 near Emery, South Dakota. On September 5, 1959, Ruth married Doug Fligge and she moved to Canistota to start their life together. Throughout her life, Ruth worked in the banking profession; managed Canistota’s city books and did the accounting for Doug’s business, the local lumberyard. In addition to working as a homemaker, Ruth enjoyed bowling, watching sports, word find books, and reading.
Grateful for having shared Ruth’s life are her children Lori (Ron) Brandt, Sioux Falls, Brett Fligge, Sioux Falls, and Anita Fligge, Pleasant Hill, CA; five grandchildren, Brady (Chauntel) Brandt, Bryce Brandt, Haley Fligge, Collin Fligge, and Joshua Fligge; two great-grandchildren, Boston and Willow; and one brother, Glen Lubbers.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl (Terveen) Lubbers; her husband Doug Fligge; and her sister Mildred Jucht.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11 at Heritage Funeral Home, with family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with internment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
