Ruth Paul, of Milwaukee Wisconsin, beloved mother and sister, passed away on October 21st, 2025. She is survived by her two daughters, Natasha (Chris Johansen) Paul, and Tanya (Eric Daniel Défort) Paul, her sister Joan Robinson, and a wide extended family both in the US and abroad.Ruth Paul (nee van Wezel) was born in 1945 on the Island of Curaçao, now an autonomous country within The Kingdom of the Netherlands, to parents Johanna Cornelia (Ans) and Mijndert van Wezel. Her life thereafter was marked by many moves both large and small, living in Japan, England, The Netherlands, Germany, and in several US states including Maryland, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin. But regardless of wherever she settled, Ruth had a knack for making each new place feel like home, especially for the family she built with her now late husband, Walter Paul, and her two daughters, Natasha and Tanya.Ruth was an incredibly creative, nurturing, and intelligent person. She always made the world around her a more enjoyable place to be, whether it was through her beautiful garden, her delicious food and baked goods, her aesthetic sense, or her dry and observant sense of humor. Those who had the good fortune of knowing her were richly rewarded with her kindness, her empathy and her thoughtfulness.The final years of her life were marked with an exhausting battle with ovarian cancer, and she was grateful for the excellent care she received both at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Gynecologic Oncology Programs at either of the two hospitals where she received treatment.
