I have known Sally for years and I could write a book about our times together. I loved Sally for many reasons. After knowing Sally, she eventually came to work at SNB/BB&T/TRUIST; therefore, I had the pleasure of her coming to work for me in CIF. I moved to Charlotte in 1985 with the bank and would come back this way to see my Mama. Between going to Clarkton through Rowland back to Charlotte I would spend some nights with Sally. Sally Elaine Prevatte Baxley, age 85, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the home of her niece surrounded by her family.
Sally was born in Robeson County on September 17, 1940 to William Dayton Prevatte and Frances Bell Greene Prevatte. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by husband; Dwight Douglas Baxley, sister; Patricia “Pattie” Prevatte Wilson.
Sally retired from BB&T after many years working as a Loan Service Representative. She will be remembered as a social butterfly. She brought humor and laughter to every situation. Sally was truly the life of the party. She enjoyed spending time at the beach or as Sally would say “The Myrtle Oceans.”
Sally is survived by her sister, Shelia Prevatte Morgan and husband Ralph, nieces; Frances Miller and husband, Jimmy, Priscilla Morgan and husband, Jim, Kim Bridgeman and husband, Connor, nephews; Coble Wilson III and wife, Sheryl, William Dayton Wilson Sr. and wife Michelle, brother-in-law; Coble D. Wilson Jr. and wife, Jill, great-nephews; Jace Wilson, Dayton Wilson Jr., Tristan Morgan, Shepard Morgan, Asher Collins, Chandler Miller, great-nieces; Hannah Britt, Casey Miller.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Rd., Lumberton, NC.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at the home of Frances and Jimmy Miller at 2358 Rice Rd., Lumberton, NC 28358.
