Sally J. Hetzner

Frankentrost, MI

 

Went home with her Lord Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Brian’s House in Essexville after a long battle with heart disease; age 85 years. Sally Spiekerman was born on January 31, 1939 in Saginaw, MI to the late Herman and Hulda “Reinke” Spiekerman. She was married to Walter Hetzner Jr. at Immanuel Lutheran Church on May 24, 1958; he predeceased her on May 26, 2010.

 

Sally was employed by Immanuel Lutheran School as a cook for 23 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Christian Care Committee. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

 

Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Scott (Mara) Hetzner of Frankenmuth, MI, Susan (Gary) Mielke of Munger, MI, Lynn (Dennis) Meade of Lowell, MI, and Dale (Pam) Hetzner of Munger, MI; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan Hetzner; brother-in-law Dean Heartwell; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her husband Walter, Sally was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

 

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI.  Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Frankentrost.  Sally’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Immanuel Lutheran School Hot Lunch Program or Brian’s House in Essexville.
