Sam, you have made your final flight into the wild blue yonder’s. You are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation’s defender. Farewell fellow war veteran.

Sam's Obituary

Sam Barder, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 80. 

Born on December 9, 1944, in Philadelphia PA. to the late George and Virginia Barder. He is also predeceased by his brother Donald Barder, Sr., his sister Barbara Stoduto, and his beloved niece Sharon Feder.

Sam embraced life on his own terms, leaving a heartfelt connection that will live on in the memories of those who loved him. Sam proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and dedication. After returning home, he established a career as a skilled electrician through the electrical union, He was the youngest of five siblings. 

He was never one to mince words, it was "his way or the highway," he lived authentically and inspired others to do the same. Sam loved nothing more than seeing others smile. Whether by telling a clever joke, breaking out into song at karaoke gatherings with friends, or sharing his heartfelt poetry about the people who meant the most to him, he brought joy everywhere he went. Sam’s unique spirit, his capacity to entertain, and his ability to connect will leave an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.

Father of Janet Braneky and her husband, David; grandfather of Frankie Lyszkowski, and Henry Lyszkowski and step-grandfather to Wendell Braneky; beloved brother of Joanne Tully and Peggy Park; and dearest friend to Richard Owen; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives, friends, and members of the Forrest Hill Association are invited to attend his Memorial Gathering on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Fluehr Funeral Home, 864 Bristol Pike (Rt. 13), Bensalem PA 19020. Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. 

Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
