Not sure what to say?

Sam was my best friend while in Viet Nam. We spent most of our time trying to stay out of trouble and driving our captain crazy. I have lots of stories about Sam that I will always cherish. I miss you my friend

Sam was my best fiend while in Viet Nam.he was part of my wedding later in life. Ill never forget Sam.take care my friend......Barry Hutchens

I send nothing but love & respect to my Uncle Sam, cousins Jeff & Jason, my Nana Ernie, my Aunt Sissy and Mom Sandy. As a young kid I remember having outrageous camping trips with Uncle Sam and his boys. The guy new how to have fun and be a risk taker. He literally was always smiling and joking around; Something we all need to do more in life. And although I will always be an Angels fan for life .. "GO Dodger Blue!" for my Uncle Sam.

Obituary

Sam's Obituary

On the evening of Thursday, May 4th, 2017, Sam Mock Jr. suffered a heart attack and

passed away quietly in his bed. He was 69.

A California native, Sam was born in East Los Angeles in 1947 to parents Sam Guey

Mock Sr. and Ernestine Nunez. He spent his childhood and teenage years with his

beloved mom Ernestine, step dad Jim, and his two younger sisters Yolanda “Sissy” and

Sandra “Sandy”.

He attended Huntington Park high school, where he shined as a star tennis player; he

was also a popular student taking many advanced courses in bookkeeping. After

graduating in 1965, he was drafted into the US Army that same year.

The Army deployed Sam to Vietnam and he proudly served his country during the

Vietnam War. He was a Private First Class charged with operating a Jeep-mounted 50-

caliber machine gun. An honorable discharge came in 1968.

After his time in Vietnam, he earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from East Los

Angeles College. A few years later, he purchased his first house in Rosemead. In 1975, he

married Beatrice Ontiveros. They had two sons, Jeff and Jason.

A longtime resident of Venice Beach, Sam worked as an accountant for most of his life.

He spent a lot of time in Santa Monica, where he met his dear friend Marge Seitel in 1995.

Together they joined the Elks Lodge in 1996 and the Moose Lodge in 1997. The two were

inseparable until her death in 2014.

If you knew Sam, then you know that nothing slowed him down, he enjoyed life to the

fullest. He was a happy, loving, generous and very carefree soul with not a single mean

bone in his body. Sam would do anything for his family and friends without hesitation.

He was unique and always left a lasting impression on people.

Sam loved to tell stories. Stories about his dear mother defending him as a little boy,

growing up with his two younger sisters, living at the Estrada Courts projects in East

L.A. being known as “little pony.” Stories about his popularity in high school, his time as

a soldier in the Army and Vietnam. Stories about his two boys growing up in Rosemead.

Sam loved going to the movies, little league games, concerts and listening to the Blues.

He loved cars; recently purchasing his Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. He was die-hard L.A.

Dodgers fan, hardly ever missing a home game and above all loved spending time with his

sons and grandson.

Sam is survived by his sons Jeff and Jason with their wives Monica and Julie and his

grandson Jared, along with his two sisters Sissy, Sandy, and their families.

Sam is dearly missed.
