Rest in peace Sandy, you were, and still loved by so many people. You will never be forgotten my friend. You always made us laugh and comforted us when needed. To the Baker family, we are so sorry for your loss.

Sandy was a close friend of the family so sad to hear of her passing prayers for the family sorry I couldn't be there !

Such great memories!

I was fortunate enough to temp at the City Utilities office many many years ago where I met Sandy. Our meeting in this life was a brief passing but I have carried the memories with me all these years. Such an amazing lady. My deepest condolences on the loss of such a special woman.

Sandra's Obituary

Sandra Andrews Baker, 84, of Athens died Friday afternoon, March 6, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.  Born February 25, 1942 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Vern Andrews and Eileen “Bessie” Bescoe Andrews, owners of Andy’s Confectionary on Shannon Ave. for many years.

A 1960 graduate of Athens High School, she loved and enjoyed her classmates.  She was employed with the City of Athens for 7 different Mayors for over 42 years.  She worked in the Auditor’s Office and City Water Utilities Office.  She was a member (and considered the membership as part of her extended family) of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS.  She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and recorded statistics of all of the Red’s games.

Sandra is survived by her very special sister, Geri (Mark) Mitchell of Athens; three sons, Brad Baker, Brian (Shelly) Baker and Blaine Baker all of Athens; her four much loved grandchildren, Morgan (Danny) Tritipo, Carson Baker, Landon Baker and Cory Abdella; four great grandchildren Bristol, Saylor, Myer and Baylen Tritipo; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ray & Liz Baker; and nieces and nephews, Leslie & Kevin Davis, Karli & Bailey Davis, Carl Baker, Kim Baker and Darla Lord .

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry D. Baker, who died April 15, 2001; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Baker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert & Frances Baker; sister-in-law, Merlaine Baker; nephew, Chad Eddy; grandparents; several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call Wednesday March 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.  Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Athens with Rev. Phil Foster officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Home Care & Hospice, 444 W.
