Not sure what to say?

Sandi and I have known each other for more than 60 years. I always loved her sense of humor, and quick wit. I’ll remember her every spring when my peonies bloom, as she always commented on how much she liked them. My deepest sympathy to her family.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Sandi. I have many wonderful memories when we worked for the Air National Guard.

Sandra's Obituary

Sandra (Sandi) Lee Swimley, 81, of Tempe, Arizona passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Sandi was born in Elgin, Illinois in December of 1943, and remained in Illinois for the first half of her life. A graduate of Dundee High School, she went on to be a valued civilian employee of the Illinois Air National Guard, receiving many awards and commendations during her tenure there.  After meeting her husband, Colonel D. A. (Sam) Swimley, she was able to transition to being a stay-at-home mom and spend time enjoying her favorite hobbies including traveling, reading, and maintaining her garden.

After the passing of her husband, Sandi moved to Tempe to be closer to her family and spent the remainder of her life in Arizona enjoying the outdoors and time with many new friends she found there.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, and her two sisters Mary and Kathy.  She is survived by one daughter, Erica, and two grandsons, Nicholas and Nathaniel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The Dementia Society of America.
