Sarah Rall, 105, Hot Springs, SD, formerly of Harvey, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Hot Springs. Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 8, at 2:00 P.M. at the Cornerstone Community Church North Campus in Harvey with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand sanitizing, and staying away if not feeling well are encouraged. Wearing masks will be required.
Sarah (Fuhrman) Rall, daughter of Jacob and Rosina (Pfaff) Fuhrman, was born March 10, 1915 on her parents’ farm south of Bowdon. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Bowdon consolidated school in Bowdon, graduating in 1934.
After high school graduation she attended Valley City Teacher’s College, receiving her certification in 1936. She then taught in area rural schools.
On December 7, 1938, she was married to Daniel Rall in Fessenden. Daniel and Sarah were blessed with two children, Rosalie and Juel. They made their home on a farm south of Hurdsfield, where they raised small grains and livestock. Sarah had a huge vegetable and flower garden along with raising chickens, milking cows and selling eggs and cream. While in Hurdsfield, Sarah received Christ as her personal Savior and attended the Gospel Chapel.
Sarah began working at the Saint Aloisius Nursing Home in 1967. Following Daniel’s death in the fall of 1971, Sarah moved to Harvey and continued working in the nursing home until her retirement in 1990.
Sarah enjoyed gardening, crocheting, walking, playing games, traveling, and having Bible studies in her home. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Harvey.
Sarah lived in Harvey until 2008 when she moved to Hot Springs, SD. She resided at the Pine Hills Assisted Living, and then moved to Castle Manor in 2012. She was presently residing at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Rosalie (Duane) Mehlhoff, Driscoll; her son, Juel (Sally) Rall, Hot Springs, SD; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband and a great-great-grandson.
