Saundra's Obituary

Saundra Janice Little

March 26, 1940 - October 7, 2025

Saundra Janice Little, 85, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Burlington, WA, after an extended illness. She was born on March 26, 1940, in Bremerton, WA, to Esther Petersen and Clyde Smith, and was later adopted by Fred Richardson.

Saundra graduated from Edmonds High School in 1958 and went on to complete Dental Assistant School in 1959, beginning a career she would dedicate herself to for over 30 years.

In December 1961, Saundra married Glen Gustafson, and together they welcomed her only child, Joe, in 1964. In 1983, she married Roy Little - the love of her life - and they shared a joyful, loving life together until Roy's passing in 2013.

She is survived by her devoted son Joe and daughter-in-law Sandra of Burlington; her grandchildren Wanda (Jimmy) of Sedro Woolley, Joe (Phylicia) of Mount Vernon, Tiffany (Roger) of Anchorage, AK, and Kennadi of Burlington; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Saundra is also survived by her brothers Ken of Big Lake and Chuck (Gail) of Burien, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends- especially Judi, Joann, and Lila.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family was everything to Saundra. Her home was the heart of countless Sunday gatherings, where food, laughter, and games brought everyone together around her dining table. These cherished moments have left lasting memories for all who were lucky enough to be part of them.

Saundra was also an active member of the "Divas." Her friendships within this group brought her joy and companionship, especially in the years following Roy's passing.

Creative and kind-hearted, Saundra had many hobbies throughout her life. She was an avid quilter and embroiderer, and her handmade pieces now grace the homes of family and friends. Later, she found joy in making beautifully crafted greeting cards, each one a work of art -        often more treasured than the gifts they accompanied. Most recently, she took up diamond art painting, a hobby she continued to enjoy until just months before her passing.

Saundra's warmth, humor, creativity, and fierce love for her family touched everyone who knew her.

Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from

12:00 PM to 4:30 pm, with placement to be at 2:00 PM at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
