Scarlet's Obituary

Scarlet A Mackey, widow of the late Rev E. W. Mackey Sr. born July 16,1952 to the late Mr. Shirley and Mrs. Rochelle Adams in Lexington, KY. Scarlet is a graduate of Lafayette High School and went on to continue her education at the University of Kentucky. Scarlet was also employed by the University of Kentucky Food Service for 37 years until her retirement. 

Scarlet accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus at an early age under the pastorate of the late Rev P.K. Finley at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member of both First Baptist Church of Nicholasville KY as well as Evergreen Baptist Church of Mt Sterling KY while supporting her husband as a pastor. She later united with the Cadentown Missionary Baptist church under Pastor Leon D. Slatter where she attended until her health declined.  

Scarlet was known for her in depth bible Knowledge and held many duties within the church while her health allowed. She was known as a true beacon of hope amid so many lives. 

Scarlet was passionately known by many names; Momma, Granny, Dee, Momma-D, Gran-D and Dee-Dee. While she answered to all names she was called she shared her love with each as they call her by the special name that she was assigned.  

Besides her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her daughter Carmen Mackey and bonus son Eric Mackey. 

Outside of her love for the Lord she loved her family. Her memory is stored in the hearts of her daughter Heather Alford and grandson Darius Alford. Bonus children Earl Mackey Jr., Erica Mackey and Penny (Dennis) Cade and her special son-in-law Rev. Jerald Alford. Bonus Grandchildren Jillian, Jonathan, Donavan, & Tayden Mackey.
