Scott's Obituary

Scott David MacClinchy, age 67, of Bidwell, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.  Scott was born October 23, 1957 in Fort Polk, Louisiana to David C. MacClinchy and Betty Bates MacClinchy.  He was a 1976 graduate of Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida.  Scott was a hard worker throughout his life, spanning a time frame of 50 years of employment.  He was the former owner and operator of Scott’s Body Shop, where he enjoyed restoring cars; former employee of AEP, where he worked on river barges; a former long haul semi-truck driver; an employee of Big Sandy Furniture; and finally retiring from Steps of Recovery, where he served as an addiction counselor.  Following his retirement, Scott enjoyed transporting his Amish friends around the area.  He loved people in general, never met a stranger, and was a lover of all animals, especially cats and dogs.  Scott was an avid miniature and “full size” car collector, which included his grandfather’s ’78 Concord wagon.  His love for NASCAR shined through even until his last breath in the hospital.  Scott was a member of the American Motors Corporation.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda L. Norton MacClinchy, whom he married on October 7, 1989 at the Nazarene Church in Jackson, Ohio.  On that wedding date, Scott inherited 2 sons, Millis Franklin Johnson IV (Jeannie) and Jeremiah J. Johnson.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Alivia Billings (Hunter), Millis Franklin Johnson V, Emma Johnson, and Sierra Johnson; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Eliana Billings; his mother, Betty MacClinchy; brother, Todd MacClinchy; sister, Penny Baker (Bill); along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, David MacClinchy.  In keeping with Scott’s wishes, cremation followed his passing.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
