Sharon I. (Lovell) Dugan, a life-long resident of Reading, passed away on August 14, 2025, at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Massachusetts. She was 74 years of age. Sharon was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on November 2, 1950, the daughter of the late Edgar and Nancy (Wells) Lovell.
Sharon was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 1968. After graduation she went on to attend and graduate from Salem State College in 1972. She taught at both the Killam and Barrows Elementary Schools in Reading for many years.
Sharon cherished her earlier years, spending summers in Wolfeboro, NH and Harrison, ME with friends and family.
Sharon’s love for reading was a constant throughout her life. She enjoyed all genres and was rarely seen without a book in hand. Beyond her love of reading, Sharon's innate gentleness was evident in her every interaction. She possessed a quiet strength, characterized by patience and a compassionate spirit.
Sharon was the beloved wife of David M. Dugan for 54 years. She was the devoted mother of Christopher D. Dugan and his wife Elizabeth of Danvers and the late Kevin M. Dugan. She was the sister of Donna Kelly and her husband Edward of N. Reading and Mark Lovell and his partner Ellen Noon of Raymond NH. She was the loving grandmother of Eric and Jessica Dugan. She is also survived by her best friends Louise Morrison and Grace Serratore, both of Reading, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Thursday, August 28th from 4 -7pm. A funeral service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held in the chapel of the Old South United Methodist Church 6 Salem St. Reading on Friday, August 29th at 12 noon. A burial will follow at Forest Glen cemetery in Reading.
