So sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences to your family. I had the pleasure of working with Sheliawhen I was working as a housekeeper in the emergency department. She was a wonderful person who cared for many people rest easy in heaven .

I became friends with Sheila’s from daily Mass attendance at St. Catherine’s Church in Somerville. Our friendship lasted many years even when I moved to Medford. I saw Sheila attending daily Mass now at St. Rachael’s. A lovely generous person. Will miss seeing her at Mass.

Sincere condolences to Sheila’s Family on the passing of Sheila she was a wonderful person extremely kindhearted and a great nurse manager i was fortunate to have her as my manager at CHA i have fond memories of Sheila & Al may she now rest in peace and be reunited with her loved ones gone before her in heaven God speed.

Sheila was one of a kind. I had the pleasure to meet her at Cambridge Hospital and again layer years at Whidden Hospital. She was a mentor, a confidant and leader. She was an extremely compassionate woman.
She will be missed.

I spent the last 6 summers with Sheila at St. Patrick's Church, attending Mass, praying the rosary and sharing rides. I am so thankful to have known her, and now she may rest in peace with Al.

The best ER nurse, I loved her, I worked in the lab for 44 years. She will be truly missed. R.I.P. my friend. Gone but not forgotten ❤❤❤❤

Sheila will be sorely missed. She was a caring and thoughtful neighbor to all at Hampton Beach. She is now with her beloved Al. Our condolences to her family.

Sheila's Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila McCallum, age 82, of Medford, Massachusetts. Sheila died peacefully at Cambridge Hospital after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Born and raised in Cambridge, Sheila was one of six children born to the late Eileen (Sullivan) and Cornelius Ferrick.

After graduating from Lawrence Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Sheila began her nursing career in 1965 at Cambridge Hospital. She quickly found her home in the Emergency Room of Cambridge Hospital, where she retired as the Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department in 2003. In addition, Sheila attended Peter Bent Brigham where she became one of Massachusetts' first Nurse Practitioners.

Above all, Sheila was devoted to her faith and enjoyed her summers at Hampton Beach. She enjoyed attending daily mass at both St. Raphael’s in Medford and St. Patrick’s in Hampton, NH. She is remembered for her generosity and her love of Christmas.

Sheila was the beloved wife of the late Albert McCallum. She was the sister of the late Patricia and Robert Solakoff of Brockton, Kevin and Kathleen Ferrick of Taunton, Brian and Virginia Ferrick of Medford, Eileen and Francis Welch of Cambridge, and Dennis and Karen Ferrick of Cambridge. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, and extended family including Jacqueline McCallum of Delaware and Cheryl McCallum of Cambridge. She was predeceased by Kathleen McCallum of Revere.

Visiting Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Sunday, December 21st from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 39 6th Street Cambridge on Monday, December 22nd at 10:00 am, with relatives and friends asked to meet at the church.

Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
