Not sure what to say?

Shel wasn't just my father-in-law. To me he was one of the greatest men in the universe and someone I loved, admired, respected, and I strive to be like daily. He was our kids' Pop-Pop, my wife Wendy's Dad and someone we all loved being around. His constant humor, snappy wit, and huge personality will be missed but never forgotten. We love you Shel.

Shel was our fun uncle (carrying on the legacy of his father, Otto, who was famous for creating swimming pools with ladders, and walking on stilts with his sister, Nana.). Every summer we’d wait for Uncle Shelly to arrive at Bangs Lake and teach us crazy cards games and giving Donna, Dale, Larry, Gayle, Scott and I permission to stay up late and play into the night. He was the “grown up” who pointed out the juicy parts in the Jacqueline Suzanne books! He brought the fun and laughter...

Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. I was extremely fortunate to grow up so closely with my PopPop. He is my greatest hero, our fiercest protector and the greatest man I have ever known. I will forever miss his deep belly laugh, his uncanny ability to make up songs on a whim, his loving presence and everything about him. He easily made friends wherever he went and was highly known for sharing his wisdom, abundance of love and knowledge to all those around him. The only thing he may have...

Sheldon was an integral part of the Niles fire department, training many of us in FD operations and also in the kitchen. I’m deeply saddened by his passing. He trained me on the engine and truck and assisted in paramedic calls. I have fond memories of his Saturday college football days and his yelling for Miami, then on Sunday’s his love for NFL. Rest in peace Sheldon you are on God’s roster now.

My condolences to the family. It was one of life's honors to get to know such a wonderful man. I know he will be missed, by all.
Thank you, Shel, for the laughs, the nuts and memories. I always think of you, whenever I see Chicago, I always will.

Sheldon will be greatly missed. He was a great mentor and co-worker. He was always a pleasure to work with and he had a way of passing his Fire Department knowledge on to the younger guys. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time. R.I.P.
