Sherman's Obituary
St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Sherman Joseph Provost, Sr., 77, who passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until time of service on Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Thursday.
Rev. Bartomiej Jasilek will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Lakisha Ann Glaude, Kiana Durely, and Tyasia Richard. Gift bearers will be Talia Richard and Cornell Combs. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma L. Babineaux Provost; sons, Joseph Sherman Provost, Jr. and wife Johanna and Perry Provost and wife Denise; daughters, Mary Esther Provost, Mary P. Richard and husband Joseph W. Richard, Sr., and Fontella Provost-James and husband Gregory; brother, Burley Provost; sisters, Mary Ann Pierre and Ethel Provost; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odda and Cecilia Richard Provost; son, George Provost; and grandchildren, Chantel Richard and Jason Provost.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Weston Richard Jr., Joseph Sherman Provost III, Kendall Provost, Xavier Provost, Alvin Hypolite, Damien Provost, Wendall Provost, and Jorrel Provost.
Honorary pallbearers will be Burley Provost, Anthony Pierre Jr., Eazly Babineaux Sr., and Eazly Babineaux Jr.
