Sherri's Obituary

Sherri Ann Lee Cozzi;

Cherished wife of Diana San Lucas; Loving daughter of the late Leroy and Florence; Beloved niece of the late Anthony (Mary) Cozzi and Richard Capolongo; Treasured cousin of Mark Cozzi (James Goeke) and second cousins, Clyde and Maria Cozzi.

Sherri A, Cozzi was born August of 1957 to Leroy and Florence Cozzi in Chicago, Illinois. Shortly afterwards the family set down roots in Addison, Illinois where Sherri spent her formidable years.  Being an only child, Sherri clung close to her parents and grandparents.  She adored her grandfather, Ralph and grandmothers, Bess and Lily.  The multitude of funny anecdotes and fond memories she shared with loved ones is a testament to her love and devotion to her family.

As a young woman, Sherri started her career in Sales for the Chicago Tribune.  She forged a successful career in Telemarketing.  She also worked for the family business, brokering printing.  It was not until the end of her career that landed at the University of Illinois at Chicago from where she retired in 2017.

Sherri considered her friends as family, and she made friends wherever she went.  She always had smile and a kind word.  She was a trusted confidant to many.  Her infectious laugh and storytelling are legendary.  Her genuine love and concern for her loved ones is unmatched.  Sherri had many longtime friends, some from childhood and many she considered sisters and brothers.  And the love she gave was reciprocated.  She was a special person full of life and love.

Sherri met her spouse, Diana, in February 1997 and they were married in August 2014.  They shared 27+ years together enjoying each other’s company, traveling and making incredible memories.  For the last 16 months, Sherri battled pancreatic cancer, with Diana by her side.  Although she succumbed to her illness she fought valiantly and gracefully until the end.  Her last request was to not be forgotten, as if anyone who knew her ever could.
