Shirley and I were cousins. Our mothers were sisters. I remember their mother who was my Aunt Mable as being a lot of fun. Usually, the only time we were to together when my mother had a big Sunday

Shirley Ann Hill Cox, age 80, wife of the late Roger Holt Cox, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in Lawrenceburg. Shirley was born July 11, 1945 in Shelbyville, KY to the late Ibra Lee Hill and Mabel Katheryne Stratton Hatfield.
Shirley loved her family more than anything and was a hard worker. She enjoyed walking and watching Gunsmoke and The Virginian. She also enjoyed her flowers and watching Hummingbirds.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Lisa Kay Vanatta of Frankfort and Robin Ransdell of Harrodsburg; a son, David A. Monroe of Mt. Eden; a half sister, Donna Sue Wilkens Brewer; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Including her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Lee Monroe.
Shirley’s family have honored her wishes and she will be cremated and her remains will be buried at Best Cemetery in Anderson County, KY.
