I will always remember Mrs Shirley and John Lewis.To this day,whenever I go by their old home place,I get hungry for purple hull peas and cornbread.

Shirley Joe Peterson Featherston, age 87, of Lewisville, Ar. died Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was a resident of the Summit Health & Rehab. Taylor, Ar. Shirley was born near Ogden, Ar. October 7, 1937, to Arthur Lee and Cora Ilene Peterson.
Shirley was a member of Canfield Baptist Church at Canfield, Ar. She attended Mount Nebo Church in Patmos, Ar., later in life where she had many friends. She was a homemaker and loved babysitting for her nieces & nephews and others that needed her. She loved all the little ones as if they were her own. Shirley had the best memory. When people needed names or birth dates and couldn’t remember them, they would go to Shirley. She never forgot anyone. Shirley was a member of the Canfield Home Demonstration Club and was very active in all that they did.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lee & Cora Ilene Peterson, husband John Lewis Featherston, Sisters: Dorothy House, Clelless Nall, Syble Cox, Flo Moore, Ruby McCoy, brothers: Coy, Jim and Carl Peterson.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Helen McClure of Bradley, Ar., sister-in-law, Norma McClendon of Texarkana, Ar., numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends.
Graveside Service will be at DeMoss Cemetery on county road 16, 10 miles south of Lewisville, Ar. at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 2, 2025, with Bro. Jerry Hutchings officiating. Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.
