Shirley's Obituary

On August 27, 2025, our family experienced a profound loss when Robert Dale Robinson, age 85, and his beloved wife, Shirley Clair Robinson, age 85, passed away on the same day. Married for 58 years, they left this world together, just as they had lived—side by side.

Robert was born on September 25, 1939, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Campbell and Ruth Robinson. He built a life grounded in hard work, integrity, and love for his family. For more than 30 years, he worked at Detroit Edison as a cable splicer, earning the respect of his colleagues for his dedication and commitment. He was known for his love of the University of Michigan and sports, his quick wit, steady wisdom, and his gift for making everyone feel at home.

Shirley was born on May 18, 1940, in Livonia, Michigan, to William and Margaret Kohnke. A bank teller by trade, she was best known as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched countless lives with her kindness, sense of humor, and open heart. Her smile and laughter had the power to turn ordinary days into cherished memories.

Together, Robert and Shirley Robinson built a family and a legacy of love. They are survived by their daughter, Cheryl (Michael) Regan; grandson, Tyler Joseph Robinson; daughter-in-law, Melody Robinson; and sister, Sabrina (Robert) Montour as well as several nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their son, Ronald Joseph Robinson; sisters, Betty Bishop, Fonnie Hissong, Debra Bedrick, Sandra Robinson, and Vicki Keating; and brothers, William Robinson and Michael Robinson.

Their love story was one of faithfulness and devotion, and their passing together is a bittersweet comfort to those they leave behind. Their memory will be honored every day in the lives of those they nurtured, inspired, and loved.

A joint memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Taylor, Michigan, with gathering beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and celebrate the lives of two people who were never apart in spirit.
