Shirley's Obituary

Visitation for Shirley Ann Seebacker, 86, of Grayslake, IL will be on July 18, at 10am at Santa Maria del Popolo Church, 116 N Lake St. Mundelein, IL 60060 (Corner of Lake & East Courtland St.) Funeral Mass will begin at 11am.

Shirley was born on July 23, 1938 in Green Bay WI to Matthew & Elveria Martin. She passed away July 7, 2025 in Fox Lake, IL.  She was a happy resident at The Cottages of Fox Lake enjoying her friends and spending time rocking on the porch of the front lawn listening to Neil Diamond enjoying activities and outings. 

Shirley foremost loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and volunteering her time at the Fremont Library and Ten Thousand Villages gift store. She loved her pet cats . In later years became quite fond of her “grand dogs”. She left Green Bay and moved to Chicago at the age of 18. Shirley began her working career in Chicago as an executive assistant at Admiral Corporation. Shirley and her husband Rudolph Seebacker moved to Mundelein in 1962 to raise their growing family.  Later Shirley went back to work at International Mineral & Chemical Corp in Mundelein while raising her family.  When her family was grown, she made a career change and worked for Marshall Fields/Macy's in their furniture department.

Shirley is survived by her children Linda (John) Pabich, Jason (Lisa) Seebacker, daughter-in-law Gayle Seebacker, sisters Mary Jane Fifield & Margaret (Tad) Dalaruelle, brother-in-law Ron (Nancy) Ruzecki and sister-in-law Carol (Ed) Androwchowski.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved children Kathleen Seebacker, Christopher Seebacker, son-in-law Michael Ryan, brother Robert (Cheryl) Martin and parents Matthew & Elveria Martin. Shirley was an extraordinary grandmother to 6 grandchildren Claire Ryan, Austin Herda, Jack Pabich, Kas Seebacker, Jessica Seebacker & Landon Seebacker. She was a proud God Mother to Kimmi Andrychowsi & (Tony) Randazzo. Shirley loved her nieces and nephews and marveled at their families. She had many friends throughout her life that were special to her and her family. Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her family.
