Not sure what to say?

2020 brought about some not so pleasant changes in everyone's life, but no more so than Shirley's passing. I loved Shirley's stories and her wonderful laughter and this earth is less joyful because of her passing.

My relationship with Shirley started out 32 years ago when she began ordering my hand painted porcelain Christmas ornaments for her family. What started out as a business relationship developed into a friendship as we shared each year with one another about our families. I always loved hearing her laughter, her stories about driving the school bus, and more importantly the family updates with marriages, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. Our September updates will be greatly...

Aunt Shirley was such a vibrant part of my life since she was my father's only sister. At Christmas I always think of her box of melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookies that she brought. I've carried on that tradition. It blessed my heart to see one of the grandkids named "Adrian". I will remember your mom's infectious laughter, almost a giggle. My dad loved her till his final days (1980). I cherish the many memories of childhood spent in Carolina with Tammy, Vera, Juanita, and on...

To all the family (boys and girls) we have lost one of the most" colorful ladies " I haver ever known or loved in my lifetime! Whatever she did (parenting, Legion work, Phoebus Ambassador, City schools, Fire Co., Phoebus Well's Amaco Service Center, VA Center, etc.) Shirley was all in! I miss already the waving arms and loud greeting she provided from her front porch or across the street, always followed with the inquiry for each member of my families health and then a "few" social and...

Thank you Shirley, for being my 2nd mother! Getting in trouble when i deserved it, calling my MOM so i could get into more trouble, taking me on vacation trips with Moose and Bubba, and looking out for ALL of the boys in Phoebus. This world is a lesser place because your not here! My prayers for the Wells family.

To the wonderful family of my dearest, loving, sweetest more than a friend Shirley.. My heart goes out to you all because I know what she meant to you all. She would spend many days and nights talking about her wonderful family . She told me many times that her family was the most important thing in her life. I'm sure you will cherish all the wonderful memories of her life as I will. I loved her very very much and although I hate to lose her here on earth I know I will be with her again....

My husband Dan and I just can't imagine a world without Shirley. She was such a goer and a doer and so much fun while she was going and doing. Am so glad to have known her. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 48 sure won't be the same.
Our deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved Shirley.
