I cannot tell you how much Stacey has meant to me and to my family. She left an imprint on each person she met. My fondest memories of her are picking about who was better Duke or Carolina. I still remember the last time I saw her. She said I love you Miss Joanna and I told her Love you too Stacey and gave her a hug. She will live on in our hearts as we carry her with us everywhere we go.

To Stacey's family, I wanted to say what a sweet service you had for Stacey. It was truly a celebration of her life and her home going. I don't know how several of you had the strength to sing for Stacey but it was beautiful and such a part of what Stacey was.Stacey was just so pretty and I loved the special touches you did. Our prayers are still with your family and will continue to lift you up. Thank-you for letting us all share with you Stacey's life. Stacey was such a light to the world....

Stacey's Obituary

Stacey Lynn Wright was born in Lexington on August 1, 1983, to Jerry and Kathy Wright. She died January 8, 2014, of a sudden illness at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, after a year of declining health. She attended Stoner Thomas School where she received her certificate of completion for education. Stacey worked at The Workshop of Davidson and Flawless Hair and Nail Studio for many years. They helped her to learn to live a life of independence. She stopped working in 2013 due to early dementia and spent her days with her workers traveling in Lexington, visiting the library and local stores. Stacey lived at home with her parents and loved her family. She had a large extended family that brought joy to her life. After her mother passed away she got a "new Mom" and a "new baby sister". She loved her sister and loved to play with her. Stacey loved to do art work, and she loved dolphins. Her love for dolphins came to life in a beautiful painting she did under guidance of the art program she attended through The Workshop of Davidson. Stacey was starting her 26th year with Special Olympics Davidson County. Throughout those years she competed in many sports, such as cheerleading, bocce, swimming and basketball. Basketball was her favorite sport. Stacey was a "True Blue" Carolina Tarheels fan. She loved her team and was their biggest fan. She attended High Rock Community Church and was a greeter at the door. Stacey never met a stranger and she would tell you all about herself. She was a precious light in our community. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish her memory; and her special boyfriend of many years, Johnny Greene. The family would like to thank Easter Seals UCP for all the help and support they provided these past years for Stacey. A special thanks to her workers, Amanda Hill, Aleigha Waters and Fannie Wall.
