Stephen J. Hoffer, 92, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully Monday, August 11, 2025 at Fellowship Villa, Whitehall where he had been residing. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Schaffer) Hoffer to whom he was married 65 years. Born in Northampton, July 25, 1933, Stephen was the son of the late Stephen Hoffer and Johanna (Klepeis) Hoffer Schwartz. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Mack Trucks, Inc. in Allentown for 33 years before retiring in 1987. During his tenure at Mack Trucks, he held various positions at the assembly plant retiring as a production line truck driver. He was a member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post #16, Slatington and the former Veron G. Kern V.F.W. Post # 8344, Schnecksville. Stephen was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Roman Catholic Church, Slatington. He was an avid RV traveler.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Julia C. Miller of Schnecksville, Jane E. Frantz of Slatington; son, David S. Hoffer (Rhonda) of Walnutport; grandsons, Jared, Lance, Nicholas, Ryan; great-grandson, Caden.
Service: Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Reverend (Fr.) Eric R. Arnout officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 pm. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs, PA.
