Steve certainly had an incredible impact on Emporia, but you never forget those who were good to your children. We were neighbors for years and Steve was always good to us and our kids. He took a particular interest in Zach and always supported him in sports and in life in general. We’re forever grateful. To his family-we are praying for the comfort and peace that only the Lord can provide. Love to you all!

My sympathies to the Sauder family. What a difference Steve made in the lives of so many. I always enjoyed my interactions with him. He was friendly, interested, and supportive/encouraging. I pray that good memories, your faith, and the support of those/the community around you will provide you comfort at this difficult time. Bless you all.

As long as his friends and family are on this earth, we will smile when we think of him. In our quiet moments, we will hear his voice. In our joyous moments, we will hear his laugh. And when sadness comes, we will feel his love.

He and I were Procter and Gamble food division salesmen in Wichita area 1968. He certainly made a huge impact on his hometown.

What an impact Steve made in the the community of Emporia. He will be dearly missed by everyone along with his family. Our deepest condolences Jamie on the passing of your amazing father.

I was a recipient of the Sauder Scholarship. Steve and the Sauder family have made a great impact on my life and my higher education journey. Steve’s energy was amazing and contagious. Always smiling and happy. I will be forever grateful. R.I.P.

He raised 3 wonderful sons. We lived next door to Steve and Paula for 6 years. Being an ESU alum, I am aware of his time and financial donations to ESU and to the city of Emporia.
