Steven Craig Luckstead, 67, of Walla Walla, passedaway on Oct. 27, 2014, at Providence St. Mary MedicalCenter. He was born to June Luckstead and thelate Wesley Luckstead on Oct. 22, 1947.Steve earned a doctorate in medium energy physicsfrom Washington State University and worked as amedical physicist with St. Mary Cancer Center. Steveenjoyed travel and photography. He was an avid reader,and shared his knowledge of science with articleswritten for the Union Bulletin. He was an adventurousbackpacker and road tripped broadly throughoutthe U.S. with his family. Most recently he enjoyed visitingEurope, Africa, China, and South America.Steve loved his family, and thought that raising hischildren was one of the most rewarding experiencesof his life.He is survived by his wife, Mary Luckstead; children:Amy and Brian Heinzman of Walla Walla, Marcusand Abigail Luckstead of Tacoma; Jeff and JennyJo Luckstead of Fayetteville, Ark.; mother, JuneLuckstead of Mission Hills, Calif.; sister, Tammyand Mark Mackey of Malibu, Calif.; eight nieces andnephews; many friends who loved him; and a soon expectedgrandson that he was proudly awaiting.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1,2014, at 3 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home,315 W. Alder. Memorial contributions can be made tothe Walla Walla YMCA Youth Sustainability Fundor Providence St. Mary Cancer Center.
