Steven Scott, 61, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Montezuma Specialty Care Center.
A Celebration Gathering will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2025, from 2pm-4pm, in the Reception Hall of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorials may be made out to Carol Scott and sent in care of the Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
Steven was born on April 11, 1964, in Hammond, Indiana to Virgil and Clara (Stephenson) Scott. His family eventually moved to the Grinnell area and he held various jobs. He married Steph Cowman in 1992. She died in 2004. Steven met Carol through a mutual friend, and they hit it off right from the start. On June 27, 2015, they married in Grinnell.
He enjoyed bicycling, watching movies, music and camping. Steven liked Mexican food and was an excellent cook; especially making cheeseburgers. There was always a joke or two from him in every conversation. He had a kind heart and a gentle soul.
Steven is survived by his wife, Carol, of Grinnell; his mother, Clara Scott of Grinnell; siblings, Renee (Trevor) Feltner of Channelview, Texas and his twin, Stuart (Keri) Scott of Montezuma; nieces; nephews; two brothers-in-law; several friends, especially Jimmy and Doretta; and his dog; Dakota and two cats, Bella and BamBam.
He was preceded in death by his father; his sister-in-law, Linda VanErsvelde and his first wife, Steph Cowman-Scott.
