Not sure what to say?

Prayers for comfort, strength and peace to you Denise and your family.

In loving memory of a wonderful cousin! We will love you and miss you always.

I was a babysitter for him and Clarice when Teddy was very young. I am sorry I didn't stay in touch. I would love to reconnect.

Ted's Obituary

Chief Petty Officer Ted Newton Hearne, a proud United States Navy veteran, retired, submariner (torpedoman), and salvage diver, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on November 1, 1948, in Mineral Wells, Texas, Ted lived a life defined by courage, service, and dedication to others. He enlisted in the United States Navy at a young age and went on to serve as a submariner and highly skilled salvage diver. His work beneath the ocean’s surface required extraordinary discipline, technical expertise, and bravery—qualities Ted carried throughout his life.

During his naval career, Ted participated in demanding underwater operations and salvage missions, in some of the most challenging conditions imaginable. His service reflected the quiet professionalism and resilience that define the U.S. Navy’s undersea and diving communities.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Ted was known for his strong character, steady determination, deep loyalty to family and friends, sense of humor and a tender heart. He carried the lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and honor from his naval service into every aspect of his life.

Ted is survived by his wife, Deborah Powell Hearne, son Jason Hearne, stepdaughter, Sandy Morris, grandchildren Lexy, Jake, Tyler, Ally and Izzy Morris, great grandson Rowan Mascaro, niece Rockelle Whalen Agbulos, siblings Gloria Hearne Davis, Marie Hearne Reed (James), Wallace Hearne (Darla), Hal Hearne (Leslie) and Brad Hearne (Cindy) and many friends who will remember his strength, wisdom, and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert Hearne and Norma Lee Brown.

A memorial service will be held on April 10, 2026, 10:00 AM at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah. Ted will be remembered with gratitude for his service to his country and for the impact he had on those who knew him.
