Teddy Don Fields, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 3, 2025. The youngest of 5 children, Ted was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on October 22, 1933 and graduated from Bentonville High School in 1951. After high school, he graduated from Arkansas College in 1955 with a music degree and then bravely served in the Navy as a corpsman from 1955 to 1961. While stationed in San Diego, he met Clara, the love of his life. Together, they built a life centered around love and the arts.
As evidenced by his adoring family, Ted was a devoted and doting family man. His family was his pride and joy, and he created a warm and loving home filled with laughter, music, and art. Ted had many talents, including his warm, emotion-filled bass voice that enthralled audiences at the San Diego opera. He was also a prolific painter, specializing in acrylics on canvas. Despite living as a straight arrow, he had a unique art style that was jokingly described as a psychedelic view of reality. Often used as statement pieces, his bold and imaginative art was loved by many, including fairgoers at the Benton County Fair and those lucky enough to have his art in their home.
He will be remembered for his generous heart and the way he could command attention with just a glance. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Fields (Bentonville, AR) and great-grandchild, Ben Fields (Magnet Cove, AR). His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his son, Jeffrey Fields and his wife, Mollie Fields (Hot Springs, AR); his daughter, Leslie Fields (Bentonville, AR); his grandchildren Stacey Coley and her husband, Steve Coley (Hot Springs, AR); Travis Fields and his wife, Jamie Fields (Magnet Cove, AR); Jessie Fields; Corey Fields (both of Hot Springs, AR); Cassandra Hernandez; David Hernandez (both of Bentonville, AR); and great-grandchildren Zachary Coley; William Coley; Ashley Willliams and her husband Chris Willliams (all of Hot Springs, AR) and Anna Fields (Magnet Cove, AR); and great-great granddaughter Sybella Coley (Hot Springs, AR).
Ted’s legacy of artistic and musical endeavors will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew him. A celebration of Ted’s life including military honors ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 3pm at the First United Methodist Church in Downtown Bentonville. Though he may no longer walk among us, Teddy Don Fields will forever remain a guiding light in our lives, reminding us to cherish each moment and to love deeply. Rest in peace, Logan.
